Continental Life Medicare Supplements Plan Options

Continental Life Insurance Company offers ten different plans:

  • Plan A
  • Plan B
  • Plan C
  • Plan D
  • Plan F
  • Plan G
  • Plan K
  • Plan L
  • Plan M
  • Plan N

Medicare Supplement Plan G

The current most popular Continental Life Medicare Supplement plan is Plan G. This is the most comprehensive Medigap plan available to Medicare beneficiaries becoming eligible for Medicare after January 1, 2020.

Medicare Supplement Plan G covers the following:

Plan G does not cover the Part B deductible ($240 in 2024), but it offers lower monthly premiums that may offset the cost of paying the yearly Part B deductible.

Medicare Supplement Plan F

Medicare Supplement insurance plan F checks all the boxes of Medicare benefits including the Medicare Part B deductible. The monthly premiums are somewhat higher than other Medicare Supplement insurance plans, but the comprehensive coverage made it the most popular of all Medicare Supplement insurance plans.

Unfortunately, Medicare beneficiaries who become eligible for Medicare after January 1, 2020, are not eligible for enrollment in Plan F unless they have Guaranteed Issue Rights due to circumstances like being covered by an employer-based health care plan or losing a Medicare Advantage plan.

Along with Medigap Plan F, a high deductible Plan F is available for Medicare recipients who would prefer to pay a significantly higher premium at the beginning of the year and then enjoy full coverage throughout the remainder of the year. The benefits match the standard Plan F except that the deductible amount in 2024 is $2,800.

Medicare Supplement Plan N

Continental Life Medicare Supplement Plan N is the third most popular Medigap policy. This does not mean it is a lesser plan than Plan F or Plan G. It depends on the policyholder’s individual needs.

Medicare Supplement Plan N offers excellent insurance coverage in all coverage gaps except for some copayments with doctor visits or Emergency Room visits, the Part B deductible, and Medicare Excess charges. All Part B coinsurance costs are covered under Plan N.

With Plan N health insurance, it is important to ask if the doctor accepts Medicare before making the first appointment. This will eliminate the problem of Medicare Excess Charges.
